Description

Inside the well-preserved walls of Roč, known as the medieval center of Croatian Glagolitic literacy, you will get to know the Roman lapidary, the old medieval town center, the veil and the small town gates, the viewpoint and other attractive cultural sights

There are numerous stories and legends hidden in Roč, and the real treasure of cultural heritage is hidden in small locked churches. These are medieval frescoes and Glagolitic graffiti. You will unlock the doors of the old locked churches of St. Anton and St. Roka and see the famous Roka Glagolitic script on the dedication cross from the 12th century and other medieval frescoes and Glagolitic graffiti from the 14th and 15th centuries.

If you wish, you will visit the Glagolitic Printing House of Juri Žakan, which houses a faithful replica of Gutenberg's Glagolitic printing press from the 15th century, and learn how books were printed in Glagolitic letters more than 500 years ago. The price per person is 2.00 euros.

If you wish, you will visit the artist's studio, the Freska-Vidović atelier and learn about the medieval buon fresco painting technique. With a welcome aperitif, you will be able to draw a few strokes of a brush with natural pigment on the smoothed lime surface. The price per person is 2.00 euros.
