Description

In the Middle Ages, Roč was the center of Glagolitic and Croatian literacy, and today it is an inspiring place for an educational and creative Glagolitic workshop led by Hari Vidović, professor of fine arts.

Through the workshop, you will unlock the locked doors of the medieval church of St. Anthony and St. Roch and enjoy an expert tour of the famous Glagolitic Abecedarium, one of the most significant proofs of Glagolitic activity in Roč from 1200. and frescoes from the 14th and 15th centuries.

Everyone is challenged to carve a word or a decorative initial in Glagolitic, just as Glagolitic priests used to carve their Glagolitic graffiti on frescoes long ago.

The workshop consists of a guided tour of Roč and the practical work of engraving Glagolitic script on a plastered tile, and is ideal for children and school field lessons.
